Come the end of September, I’ll be headed for John Obey, a small fishing village on the coast of Sierra Leone. The organization Tribe Wanted will welcome their first tribemembers (adventure tourists wanting to do good) who will work alongside local villagers to build Sierra Leone’s first ever eco-village resort. A wind turbine, new school, eco-dome buildings and permaculture are all part of an effort to promote sustainable development through eco-tourism.
Sierra Leone is still struggling to recover from a brutal civil war that ended in 2002. This country has so much to offer the intrepid traveler- beautiful people, gorgeous countryside and some of the world’s most beautiful virgin beaches.
I’ll be blogging from my tent on the beach and hope to give you a taste of village life and the beauty of Salone’s people.
Hope to hear from you.
